MIXING
I love mixing records.
Sometimes a song just needs a little nudge.
Sometimes it needs a lot.
Sometimes that means mixing. Sometimes it means taking a few steps back into production before we move forward again. Whatever the path, I’m happy to meet the music where it’s at. That’s my favourite part of the process.
For me, mixing is about helping a record find its personality.
Sentir is built for artists, producers and labels who still believe records should sound like people made them. The kind of people who stay the extra hour because they’re onto something. Who obsess over the details, but never want to lose the feeling that made them fall in love with the song in the first place.
Records that feel finished, without feeling overcooked.
Yes, we’ve got the precision you’d expect from a modern hybrid workflow. Instant recalls. Total flexibility. The ability to move quickly when you need to.
But Sentir also has racks full of equipment carefully curated to add character, clarity, warmth and weight you simply can’t download with a plugin.
Vintage compressors that effortlessly control. Pultecs that magically make things feel bigger without getting in the way. 1073s, SSL, API and Studer channel strips, old Lexicons, tube distortion, reel-to-reel tape machines and lots of vintage effects that still do things plugins haven’t quite figured out.
All these tools, these toys, they add up.
They give a record personality.
They want to be touched. Turning knobs, pushing things a little too far, finding the sweet spot, and letting the equipment become part of the creative process.
To me, tone and sound is as important as the notes being played.
The way we interact with these tools makes a huge difference. Everything has its sweet spot, each piece does something only it can do. So whatever creative direction, we’re ready.
Sentir is centred around a Pro Tools HDX system, 64 channels of Lynx Aurora (n) conversion, Crane Song / ATC 2.1 monitoring and a one-of-a-kind fully discrete Class-A custom designed and built line mixer.
In the back of my mind, I’m always thinking about where the record is going to live. Whether it’s a club system in Ibiza, a pair of headphones on a late-night walk, a festival stage, or a cinematic album played front to back, the goal is the same: make it feel great wherever it’s heard.
Twenty years of DJing has shaped the way I hear and feel music.
Understanding how records move a space. How energy builds. Knowing which elements need to sit forward and which need to sit back.
I think that’s really important.
A great mix isn’t just about sounding good. It has to feel authentic to the style of record it is.
Wherever you are in the world, if you’re producing an album, EP, or even a single track, you can send me your multitrack and we can finish the record together.
