What is Transform Your Mix
A lot of music is being made with plug-ins, often trying to emulate analog saturation and the character of vintage consoles or hardware. Transform Your Mix lets you process your music through actual vintage transformers at Sentir Studio.
You’ve got your workflow, and your plug-in chains are sounding great. Now let the transformers add what they naturally do best: tighten the low end, smooth the highs and bring more focus and detail to the mids. The appeal is weight, harmonics and bloom.
Transform Your Mix is for anyone looking for that extra sonic edge. You might work entirely in the box, be on tour away from your studio, or want a different flavour to complement your existing analog gear. Keep your workflow, and hear what these transformers can bring to your music.
We haven’t just picked any transformers. We’ve sourced and tested as many as we could get our hands on to find four pairs of what we consider some of the finest audio transformers ever made:
- Malotki E4-M
- Triad HS-66
- UTC A-20
- Western Electrics REP 111C
Each pair has been carefully selected for stereo use and precisely matched in frequency response and distortion, with signal levels matched to within ±0.01 dB to preserve the balance and stereo image of your mix.
There isn’t one best transformer. Each pair has its own sound. The interesting part is hearing what each one adds to your music.
How It Works

Transform Your Mix
We process each file through your chosen transformers at Sentir Studio.
Once your files have uploaded, each track is automatically gain-staged to a level chosen specifically for your selected transformer pair. Each pair responds differently. The aim is to hit its sweet spot: too little drive can leave its character barely audible; too much can make the mix feel smaller. Get the balance right and your mix opens up, blooms and comes to life.

Delivery
We’ll email you a download link to your RMS-level-matched Transform .wav files alongside your unchanged originals, ready to compare.
We aim to email your files within 24 hours of a completed upload. If there’s a delay, we’ll contact you. Download links remain available for seven days.
CHOOSE YOUR TRANSFORMER
Every transformer has its own character. Its own sonic footprint. You don’t need to understand the technical differences, we take care of that part.
Some bring a wide, deep, almost euphoric stereo image. Others feel tighter, punchier and more forward. Some open the top end without ever making it feel harsh; others soften the transient edges with an almost tape-like feel.
The magic is in how they’re driven. The right signal level and impedance loading can bring a transformer into its sweet spot, where the sound starts to bloom.
To our ears, the appeal is weight, harmonics and a sense of glue: a firmer low end, smooth, focused and detailed mids, and more front-to-back depth. Each pair brings a different balance of these qualities, and the result depends on your music. It’s something you hear, but also feel.
Malotki E4-M
Deep, smooth and euphoric dimension
These rare German-made Malotki E4-M transformers are among the finest ever made, bringing a deep, smooth, almost euphoric sense of space and dimension.
The E4-M, is most famously known for being used in Neumann mastering consoles which were designed and built in the 1960’s. It has a smooth luxurious sound. The low end feels deep and full rather than punchy, the mids stay smooth, focused and detailed, and the top end can take some of the hardness out of a very clean digital recording.
It’s a pair I reach for when I want a mix to feel wider, deeper and less clinical.
Triad HS-66
Round, low mid weighty and smooth.
These vintage American transformers were used in one of the best equaliser every built. The Pultec EQP-1A. Their sound is strong, immediate and punchy, emphasising the low mid weight of a track.
The low end feels rounder and fuller. There’s a lovely presence through the low mids, while the top end stays incredibly smooth. The centre of the mix can feels a little more forward.
It’s a pair I reach for on vocals, drums and bass, or when synths need more thickness and weight. I especially like what they bring to house records with a heavy bass line. They’re hard to describe, but once you hear it, it’s hard to go without.
Western Electric 111C
Wide, clear and cohesive glue.
Originally built for broadcast audio transmission, these are some of America’s finest transformers. They have a distinctive sonic fingerprint and a way of making a record feel finished.
On the mix bus, the sound feels wider and more alive, with substantial low-end weight and a sense of fullness that makes the whole mix feel bigger. Transients become more defined, the lower mids gain clarity, and harsh highs - especially cymbals - can soften into an almost tape-like smoothness.
It’s a pair I reach for when the balance is already right and I want that final sense of glue.
UTC A-20
Bass bloom, density and smooth highs.
These are the sleepers of the bunch. The way they excite the bass is unlike anything else in this collection. Bloom is the word. There’s a dense quality to the sound, with softened highs and a character that reminds me of overdriven tube preamps.
They’d be my pick for harsh or overly bright records, particularly vocals or guitar-heavy mixes that need smoothing without losing presence, detail or energy.
Rather than making the sound feel wider, the A-20 tends to bring things inward and forward, giving the mix a more focused, immediate feel. It can also help an overly prominent snare settle back into the mix, making it feel more connected to the rest of the song.
What We Do / What We Don’t Do
Transform Your Mix is not a mixing or mastering service. We’re not making creative decisions about your balance, EQ or dynamics.
We pass your audio through your chosen vintage transformers, adding their character to the sound you’ve already created.
What We Do
Once your files have uploaded, each track is automatically gain-staged to a level chosen specifically for your selected transformer pair. Each pair responds differently. The aim is to hit its sweet spot: too little drive can leave its character barely audible; too much can make the mix feel smaller. Get the balance right and your mix opens up, blooms and comes to life.
We use Lynx Aurora(n) converters for playback and capture, passing your audio through the selected transformers between the two. Canare cabling and Equi=Tech 3RQ balanced power help keep unwanted electrical noise low.
The processed .wav file is RMS level-matched to your original within ±0.05 dB, giving you a reliable comparison without a louder version influencing your choice.
There’s no resampling, digital limiting, dithering, peak normalisation or time-stretching. Level adjustment is used for gain staging and RMS matching; the hardware transformer is the only intentional source of colour.
If RMS matching produces peaks above 0 dBFS, they’re preserved in the 32-bit float file without additional limiting or attenuation.
For each .wav you upload, we:
- Process your file at the original sample rate.
- Preserve the exact, sample accurate, file length, with the identical start and end points.
- Deliver two files: your RMS-level-matched, 32-bit float processed .wav alongside your unchanged original .wav.
Transform Your Mix can work at the end of a mix, before mastering, but it can also be useful much earlier in production. Vocals recorded with different microphones, preamps or in different rooms can vary in character. If they feel harsh, overly clean or disconnected, a transformer pass can help soften the edges and bring a shared tonal character.
For me, it’s a way of getting to a more cohesive starting point: adding body without EQ, softening harsh edges and helping the sounds feel more connected before reaching for compression or further processing.
It can also be powerful on individual groups, including your drum bus, bass, guitars, music, vocals and effects.
If you want to take it further, process your group stems individually and mix and match transformer pairs across your song. For example:
- Drums: Malotki E4-M
- Bass: UTC A-20
- Guitars: Western Electric 111C
- Music: Triad HS-66
- Vocals: Malotki E4-M
Once you get the files back, import the processed stems into a new session and export them together as a stereo .wav. You can then send that mix back for a final transformer pass as a new order, adding another layer of saturation, glue and excitement.
What We Don’t Do
- No EQ
- No compression
- No limiting
- No stereo widening
- No upsampling or downsampling
- No creative rebalancing
- No remixing
- No software emulation of analog hardware
We give you the option to hear your own music through real hardware. You decide which transformer character works best for your music.
Rates
Each .wav file you upload is priced individually. Mono and stereo files cost the same. The price includes processing that file through your chosen transformers.
| .wav | Discount | Price per .wav |
|---|---|---|
| 1st .wav | Full price | A$39.99 |
| 2nd .wav | 10% off | A$35.99 |
| 3rd .wav | 20% off | A$31.99 |
| 4th .wav | 30% off | A$27.99 |
| 5th .wav onwards | 40% off | A$23.99 |
GST is included. The discounts above apply within each order. Your complete total is shown before payment.
If you’ve processed your group stems with us, you can recombine them into a stereo .wav and send that mix back for a final transformer pass. We’ll send you a discount code to use when placing the new order, so your final mix is processed at the reduced rate.
Recording Details
Each track is automatically gain-staged to a level chosen specifically for your selected transformer pair. Every pair responds differently, so we set the drive to hit its sweet spot and bring out its character.
We play your file through a Lynx Aurora (n), into your chosen transformers, then re-record it through the Lynx. Playback and capture both happen at your file’s native sample rate, with no resampling. Canare cabling and Equi=Tech 3RQ balanced power help keep unwanted electrical noise low.
Your processed .wav file is returned at the original sample rate as a 32-bit float file, RMS level-matched within ±0.05 dB of your original, with matching file length, start and end points. Mono files remain mono; stereo files remain stereo. Your original .wav file remains unchanged.
There’s no digital limiting, dithering, peak normalisation or time-stretching. Level adjustment is used for gain staging and RMS matching; the hardware transformer is the only intentional source of colour.
If RMS matching produces peaks above 0 dBFS, they’re preserved in the 32-bit float file without additional limiting or attenuation.
Your selected transformer pair and processing settings are recorded with your order. If you change your mix or stems later, we can recall the same setup for a new order.

A note from Murray
I’ve spent years collecting, testing and using analog equipment at Sentir. Transform Your Mix came from wanting to make a small part of that process accessible to people who might not otherwise have the chance to run their music through this kind of hardware.
Each transformer pair we use for TYM has been carefully selected for stereo use and precisely matched in frequency response and distortion, with signal levels matched to within ±0.01 dB. This helps preserve the balance and stereo image of your mix while letting you hear the character of the hardware itself.
Every file is processed here at Sentir Studio, through the actual transformers we use in the studio.

Want to take the record further?
Transform Your Mix is there for when the track is already where you want it, and you just want to hear what the hardware can bring to it.
If you feel like the record needs more than that, Murray also works across mixing, mastering, production and recording at Sentir Studio.
Sometimes that means taking over at the mix stage. Sometimes it’s helping shape the production earlier on. Sometimes it’s mastering the final record or bringing the project into the studio to record.
